Refusal to repair whilst under warranty

I have a Nissan Xtrail 2014 model which developed a clutch problem at 11626km. The Nissan dealer in Melrose checked and concluded it is driver related. Nissan South Africa are refusing to take responsibility for the replacement of the clutch system. I did experience a grrrrr sound with this car, some shuddering noise to put in another way. This happened on some occasions. I am quite sure the clutch issue cannot be driver related. I have been driving for the past 20 years, both new and old cars, and I have never had such an absurd clutch problem. Nissan should take responsibility for the mess with clutch system for the Xtrail, They cannot keep on blaming the problem on driver negligence

Hello mishcol,

Thank you for your comments and Nissan SA is well aware of the matter surrounding your Nissan vehclr.

As discussed with Bongani Nkosi from our Nissan Customer Support Centre, Melrose Nissan has loaded a technical report with Nissan SA to confirm the cause of failure on the clutch.

Further to the above,we have requested Melrose Nissan to contact an independent clutch specialist for a report in order to confirm their findings.

It is important to note that a clutch is a normal wear and tear item which is not covered under the New Nissan Vehicle Warranty.

Our offices will be in direct contact with you to update you accordingly.

Kind regards,
