poor quality of the clutch system and the refusal to properly investigate why this happened so early.

I’m sharing this as a warning to anyone considering a Nissan Magnite AMT.

I bought a Nissan Magnite 2023 AMT EZSHIFT less than two years ago and at only 30,000km the clutch has already failed. The car started making strange noises before its 30,000km service, and after the service the noise became even worse. I took it back to the dealership and it was sent to a gearbox centre, where it stayed for three weeks.

After all that time, I was told the gearbox is “fine” but the clutch and flywheel are damaged, with the flywheel showing “hotspots” — and now I’m being told I need a full clutch replacement. Nissan’s response? It’s apparently just “wear and tear”.

How is it reasonable for a clutch to fail at 30,000km on a car that isn’t even 2 years old? This is an AMT vehicle where the system controls the clutch, not the driver. If this is considered normal by Nissan, then does that mean I should expect to replace a clutch every two years?

What frustrates me most is not just the issue itself, but the lack of accountability. I emailed Nissan Customer Care earlier on Monday with all the details and received no response. When I followed up, I was told the dealership had already sent “all documents”, but my concern is not about the dealership— it’s the poor quality of the clutch system and the refusal to properly investigate why this happened so early.

This is unacceptable for a vehicle of this age and price range. I chose Nissan expecting quality and reliability, but this experience suggests otherwise. I would like Nissan to take responsibility and properly address this matter instead of shifting the blame to the customer.

A clutch failure at this mileage raises serious questions about the reliability of the Magnite AMT and Nissan’s willingness to stand by their product. I am still waiting for Nissan South Africa to take this seriously and provide a proper solution.
