NP300 Double Cab Bakkie Worse Buy of My Life and Complaints Fall on Deaf ears at Nissan SA

I bought a brand new Nissan NP300 Double in July 2015. Within the first 3 months a dealer inspected the vehicle and found it to have the following problems:

1. Front Passenger Door not aligned

2. Overspray on Roof Rack holder

3. All Electric Windows are so loose that I can just about pull them out the frame. It’s as if they are too small for the frame they are in. They rattle severely.

4. Rust on both Front Door hinges

5. Rust on both Front Fenders

6. Loud Rattle from Front Passenger side

7. Wheel arch plastic scoop rubbers sliding out

I attempted to have this resolved with the Nissan SA call centre but it turned into a fruitless exercise with the call centre turning the blame on me. It was apparently my responsibility to have the dealership spray the vehicle with tactile to prevent rust and was even asked if I was in an accident with regards to the overspray and door not aligned.

I have in the meantime logged my dispute with the Ombudsman, but this being a lengthy process I decided to have people know about the issues with this make and model of vehicle.

At the next service, the dealership noted that there is more rust all over the vehicle in including at both joints between the cab’s roof and the rest of the cab. So in a matter of another 6 months, the vehicle has deteriorated that the following items need replacing, some apparently wear and tear items:

1. Stabiliser arms – Never had to replace these on any of my other Nissan vehicles, especially seeing the vehicle is hardly used and is only used to drive to work and back.

2. Stop Cap Covers – Another item that was said to me is normal and that I will have to buy shares in the company that manufactures them.

3. Wipers – Wow, I never knew that wipers only lasted a year.

I have owned a Nissan Tida and a Nissan Qashqai, both manufactured overseas, and I have never encountered any of these issues with either of them. This vehicle is made in Rosslyn and the issues above seems to speak worlds as to the quality of Nissan SA manufacturing standards.

I heed a warning to all looking at purchasing a Nissan that is locally manufactured. You are buying both a vehicle of very low quality and will probably not get any after sales support from Nissan SA. Good Luck if you do.

Nissan has again failed to address my concerns and has in fact again blamed me for not addressing and reporting the issues earlier, when in fact it was detected in the early stages by a Nissan agent and attempts were made to address the issues, unsuccessfully.
Well done Nissan SA on trying to pass the buck. Hope your business processes works for you.
