Not honouring their warranty
I bought a new Nissan NP200 from CMH Durban, and it started off with defects on the body paint. They fixed it after many delays.
On 14 May 2025 I reported to them that the aircon of the vehicle packed up and they confirmed that it was still under warranty. On 15 May 2025 I received the following message: I have given all the details of your vehicle and the issue with the aircon to our workshop . They will be in contact soon to confirm a booking . On 12 June 2025 (almost a month later) I reminded them about the aircon On 17 June 2025 They asked for copies of the service stamps On 18 June 2025 I received the following email: Please note that all required documents have been submitted to warranty. Warranty has declined repairs due to the service invoices provided by the workshop who carried out your services prove that genuine service parts were not fitted and incorrect engine oil (correct oil to be used is 15w30) was filled into your vehicle.
After consulting with experts, I contacted them again on 29 July 2025 to explain how the "incorrect engine oil" can damage the aircon. Their response: The email states that warranty is unable to approve the repairs for the aircon as the parts (engine oil ) used during the service was incorrect. This will therefore cause conflict with your warranty.
On 29 July 2025 I asked them about The Right to Repair Act in South Africa. They ignored my email. On 30 July 2025 I reminded them of The Right to Repair Act in South Africa, and they are still ignoring my emails.
Nissan, your warranty can't override The Right to Repair Act in South Africa!
