Nissan SA Ignoring My Formal Requests & Avoiding Accountability!
I am extremely disappointed with Nissan South Africa’s treatment of my ongoing issue with my 2022 Nissan Magnite’s recurring brake failures. I am at my wit's end after months of repeated complaints, poor customer service, and a blatant refusal to take accountability for a serious safety issue.
Here’s the timeline of events: December 2022: My vehicle’s brakes failed within months of purchase, which led to multiple repairs.
April 2024: After escalating the matter, Nissan SA assessed my vehicle and concluded that both the front brake pads and discs needed replacement, quoting me R6,755.37 for the full repair. However, after more pushing, they only replaced the brake pads under goodwill. The discs, which had been deemed necessary for replacement, were never replaced, leaving me to believe that the issue was still unresolved.
Early 2025: After just 10 months, my brakes failed again (0.6mm pads, warped discs), which clearly demonstrates a recurring and unresolved issue.
February 2025: I reached out again, requesting a detailed technical report explaining why this recurring failure is being attributed to “wear and tear” when the previous set of brakes had only lasted 10 months.
Instead of providing the requested information, the technical department referred me to the warranty team. Despite this, no inspection was conducted on my vehicle, and Nissan SA continued to refuse to take responsibility, simply blaming the issue on wear and tear. 21 February 2025: I formally requested the full technical report and assessment documentation from Nissan SA.
No response. 26 February 2025 & 7 March 2025: I sent multiple follow-up emails to Nissan SA and their warranty team requesting updates.
No response. No acknowledgment. What’s even more concerning is that I’m not alone. There are numerous complaints from other Magnite owners facing the same recurring brake issues, with many of us reporting premature brake failures after just months of use. Nissan SA continues to refuse all of us, leaving customers to bear the cost of repairs out of their own pockets—often thousands of rands—for a defect that clearly lies with the vehicle’s manufacturing. My request is simple: *I want the full technical report and documentation that justifies Nissan SA’s decision to classify this as a “wear and tear” issue. *I expect an actual inspection of my vehicle, or at least an official acknowledgment that the brake components used in the Magnite are of subpar quality. *Nissan SA, take responsibility for your product, stop ignoring your customers, and address this recurring problem before it escalates into something more dangerous.
NissanSA, will you take responsibility for the safety of your customers, or will you continue to ignore the ongoing complaints of multiple owners? I demand a detailed response and full transparency regarding this issue.
I will not accept being ignored anymore.
I urge fellow Magnite owners who are also experiencing the same brake failure issues, please feel free to reach out to me via email at *** I have started a group for Magnite owners to share our experiences, exchange information, and work together in holding Nissan accountable.
Let’s make our voices heard!
