Nissan magnite Rust issues
In 2022 December we bought a Nissan Magnite acenta 1.0 CVT from Nissan Milnerton We use this car in and around the Cape Town area only. To give you some history I have been driving Nissan and it’s been a trusted make for me and my family since my very first car- a Nissan 100 nx in the 90’s. So after years of hard work and saving my pennies -when I wanted to get a new family car Nissan was the first I went to. This is sadly not the case anylonger as I now have a depreciating brand new car With less then 22000 km’s mileage on the clock full of rust that is a manufacturer error as do lots of other people in South Africa and I’m Sure the rest of the world and Nissan are not taking responsibility. Im Sure this goes deeper into Nissan knowing this is an issue being well aware of it yet Japan perhaps not supporting the recall of vehicles thier side and acknowledging the poor choice of metal they chose in the manufacturing process. Let alone being able to honour the agreements they have made with the unknowing public they have served so well for so many years. Shame on you Nissan for this you will loose your audience and trust unless you can put this right. My husband is currently sat on the helpline to Nissan South Africa yet again- it’s almost become a day job he’s been on hold for 1.5 hours and being fobbed off again told this cannot be helped as NISSAN MILNERTON have already seen the car for rust repair ( not all the rust was fixed by the original dealer Nissan Milnerton) we took the car for three separate evaluations after the original repair with Nissan approved rust repair shops and provided the information to prove this fact to Nissan for them to see the rust was still an issue (The original Assesment came back from the repair shop to say this was a fault in the manufacture of the car that the paint was too thin and poor rust Treatment. Now a few months later there is more rust appearing and Nissan South Africa have just rejected the claim even though we “should be protected by our warranty” Nissan South Africa won’t take responsibility under our warranty to fix this as they say this should have been completed the first time. The dealership instruction is only authorised to spot repair. So this issue will never be resolved the first time. They are only repairing the latent (seen) rust not the patent (unseen) rust. This means it’s subject to surface at some Time. It actually gets worse! Knowing we had been sold a dud car we asked to sell the car back to Nissan Milnerton they agreed a price R*** they held onto the car for a month taking time to do the paper work and then changed the agreed price to a lower value of R230000! We had only just bought the car for R300000. Feel really messed around and Knowing we would loose too much money we had no other choice but to take the car back and try get the issue of the rust sorted.
This has not been the only Issue sadly… To begin with the car has been in and out of the workshop due to all sorts of issues from the day we bought it. . Within the first week Of driving there was a steering problem with the suspension it needed a warranty claim for the sway bar - they made an adjustment never replaced it and now if this resurfaces because there wasn’t a warranty claim within the required period of time and mileage this now negates any replacement . The brakes were squeaking after a month, they got replaced twice and still made a noise.
So we’ve tried repairing the car, we’ve tried selling the car… both without much success …
I imagine this car was the runt of the litter and got dipped in the ocean as the ship made its way to South Africa…
NISSAN WE DIDN’T SIGN UP TO BUY A BRAND NEW RUSTY CAR. My 2013 car has zero rust on it….
Sadly Nissan you cannot be trusted to honour the warranty, to deliver a car that is trustworthy and worth the price. You have messed with the wrong people and we will not let you try let this slide fobbing us off until your warranty subsides as I see you would most likely enjoy us all going away. There is an issue here and you are responsible to fix it and look after your customers while you still have them.
