Nissan Magnite Nightmare

Hi Nissan SA

I hope you are doing better than i am.

So here is the story…. In October 2021 I bought my Nissan Magnite from IC Auto Nissan Roodepoort. Service was great (i mean obviously everyone likes to make a sale) after been told they dont have vehicles available to being told i will have a vehicle in 2 weeks to being told the vehicles were damaged at the docks I waited patiently. Eventually taking a colour I didn’t want. (I wanted pearl white with the black roof)

After i got my car I noticed that the car play / Bluetooth (media) was working periodically and so were my 360 cameras. Took my vehicle back to IC Auto Nissan Roodepoort was told that the vehicle needed a simple software upgrade. Collected my vehicle that day and as I started my vehicle the 360 cameras did not all work as they should. I was asked to leave my vehicle there, i said i could not because at the time i was a rep and on the road all the time. After a while i took my vehicle back and the dealership called in the company who installed my wireless charger (was done at IC Auto Nissan Roodepoort) to check if they had maybe done something to cause this. That company assured all of us the the wireless charger was a plug and play there are no wires that they tamper with. The workshop guys checked all the wiring in the vehicle and could not find a problem. I was told that the carplay / blue tooth issue was my phone….. nope did the same with 2 other phones. The problems still persisted. I told them when my vehicle comes in for its first service i want everything sorted. IC Auto Nissan Roodepoort said they would Nissan SA involved as they had done all they could. When i called to book my service I reminded them who i was and they said they would get Nissan SA out to look at the problem. I have sent videos and photos of proof that the screen freezes and the cameras dont work. To my surprise when I arrived to collect my vehicle i found out that Nissan SA had not been contacted and did look at my vehicle the dealership did a another upgrade and checked the wires again. Fuming i left with my vehicle.

After speaking with the dealership manager we booked my vehicle in again where according to the dealership Nissan SA was contacted and advised the workshop what to do. And my car unfortunately had a Renault Kiger battery in it and they have replaced the battery to the correct one and no issues should occur going forward. I think they never even involved Nissan SA and quite frankly i had enough of driving my vehicle up and down to a Nissan dealership or dealing with a Nissan dealership. 1 year and 9 months later the problem still persists.

Anyways fast forward to 2022 i took my car to Morgan Nissan Northcliff for my next service to be told after my service that the Magnites actually have the incorrect brake pads and they would be recalling these vehicles for the breaks. Was also told that my car needed new brakes pads at the time but there was no stock in the country. I let the dealership know that I serviced my car because i was going on holiday and needed my vehicle sorted. I was told sorry they cannot help now brake pads in the country. I left the dealership and went to Supa Quick that weekend and had break pads fitted so we could go on holiday.

Again fast forward…..

This is the second time taking my car to be serviced at Motus Nissan East Rand Mall. First service great. But the screen still freezes, the carplay / blue tooth and cameras still done work as they should.

Second service (50000) upon collecting my car i was told that my turbo boost pipe was leaking and my break pads and disks need to be replaced. But no stock of break pads….. also the brake pads would be at my own account but the turbo boost pipe would be replaced under warranty. I explained the whole debacle about my brakes with Morgan Nissan Northcliff and was told they have no stock and cannot help me unless they get the go ahead from Nissan SA. I am tired and so sad about my vehicle.

We were Nissan fans…… 2 Qashqai’s, 1 Micra and lastly a Magnite and this is the type of service we get?

Today again start my vehicle and the screen does not even display a thing after fetching my vehicle on Friday 21 July from a service.

My husband queried that if the Turbo boost pipe is leaking should we be driving the vehicle as they did not have stock on site to replace the pipe. We were assured that the foreman was confident we would have no issues.

After consulting with my insurance broker i have been told that any issues, damages or accidents caused by these issues and Nissan will be held liable.

I need an urgent response and action on 1. The cars camera and media system that has been dysfunctional since day one. 2. The brakes. (A serious safety concern that has been addressed at my cost as Nissan did not have stock to replace what was recalled brakes at the time) 3. Now a further concern on turbo boost pipe - now fixed because you took so long to come back to me.

I look forward to your response because i am at a point of dropping my vehicle off at a Nissan dealership and handing over the keys.

Whilst all the Nissan staff have been pleasant it does not pay the installments on a nightmare of a car.

Nissan South Africa your customer service is nothing short of disgusting.

Empty promises from your employees.
Pheladi does not follow up and does the absolute bare minimum.

Have asked on numerous occasions for my case to be escalated and nothing. Was promised on 4 October that a Zininzi Nkibi would contact me and still nothing and please dont come again with an excuse of you called i have not ever had a missed call from Nissan!

Have physically cried tears over my car that I bought brand new but never worked perfectly. I am devastated that we have to work as hard as we do, pay monthly installments in full but Nissan can get away with after sales service like this.

My next step will be the Ombudsman!
