Nissan Leaf. Poor range.

I bought a Nissan Leaf from Group 1 Nissan Stellenbosch, as the salesman said the car would be able to do between 180 and 200km per charge, which is consistent with the marketing material. However, once I got the car, I realized that I was only getting maximum 120km per charge. I then spoke to fellow owners across the globe, who all confirmed that they also get 120km to 130km per charge. As a result, I immediately (within 7 days) informed Group 1 Nissan Stellenbosch that I want to return the car in terms of the consumer protection act. They, however, refused to honor the law, and said they will test the car to see if something is wrong. After weeks of dragging out the case, Nissan eventually said that there was nothing wrong with the car, and as such I do not have grounds to return the car. Now I am stuck with a car that can only do town trips, and I can't even take it to Cape Town and back without having to fear that I would get stuck.

Hi there, Please note that this case has not yet been resolved. In addition, the car was sold to me under the promise that there is an agreement from Nissan that the newer upgraded batteries will fit onto the older cars. This morning I was informed by fellow owners that this is not the case. It thus means if you buy the 24kwh Leaf, you will not be able to upgrade it to the 30kwh battery. The dealership, however, promised to me that you would be able to upgrade it, and was one of the reasons why I bought the car. Thanks, Jan
