Nissan Did Me Dirty
I bought a Dastun Go+ in Feb 2020 from Nissan In Umhlanga. Everything was fine, the serive was great. I had no issues whatsover. I took the car in for servicing when it was due and every time there were no issues, the car was in good condition.
The issue I have with cmh durban came about when the car had an overheating problem. I was travelling with my family to Maphumulo when this happened as we were approaching the Mvoti plaza the car started overheating and the vehicle started jerking. We stopped at ther nearby garage and the car didnt not want to start afterwards. The guys that work there tried to assist us with water to try and get the car to cool down. We stayed there for about 2 hours and tried to start the car again and it still didnt budge. We also noticed that the water was leaking out of the radiator so it was useless trying to fill it.
We then towed the car home because it was no longer moving and it was getting late. The next day we called in for the car to get towed and repaired at nissan cmh durban. The car was checked by the guy who towed it and took it to Cmh. Nothing was said to be missing. Nissan notified us the the vehicle was delivered to them and that it will be checked to find out where the issue is. About 2 weeks later I was called in to have a chat with the service advisor. They told me that they are still waiting on the diagnostics to be done to locate the problems area. So I waited. There was no further communication from them after the diagnostics were run. I had to call them every time to find out what was going on.
In December 2020, I called and I was told that the engine had been taken out. I was not informed about this prior, I did not authorise it either. I was not even informed that they needed me to authorise this. They told me that the issue seems to be in the engine of the vehicle. And that I woud have to pay for it to be replaced. Mind you the car is still under warranty and it is insured. The total costs for the repairs that would have to be done came up to R76 017.98. After some time I was told that the radiator cap was missing. And that is why they will not be covering the costs for the repairs. The radiator cap was present before the car was towed. It was only when the dealership thaat the cap was deemed missing. I didnt understand how so because it was replaced after we tried out water in the radiator. When we tried telling the service advisor that before travelling with the vehicle the cap was always there. If it was indeed lost, it happened during transit on its way to the dealership or at the dealership when it was stripped. The advisor was addimant that we lost the cap before travelling and they cannot repair the car because it was damaged due to negligence. I felt that this was unfair so I contacted my lawyers. Due to lack of communication from them it took a long time to get feedback from them. It took too long indeed and I ended up taking the vehicle back from nissan yesterday( 15/08/2022) and found the engine stripped and packed into boxes in the boot of the car. It was at the dealership for 8 months. So really decided I’ll just fix it somewhere else.
