I needed a vehicle I could work with, so I got a second hand Ford Ranger XLS 4x4. I asked if the 101 check was done and if I could see the checklist. They told me it was done but I didn’t get a checklist. I asked about the previous owner, they said it was an elderly man from White River. When I asked for the service book and service history they said that they will get it for me. When I signed the contract they said they would email me a copy. I still don’t have one today. From the get go there were problems. While the vehicle was still on the floor I told them that the suspension wasn’t right. They told me that they would have it looked at before I came to fetch it. On the day I got the bakkie, I drove to crossings Nelspruit where I stopped because I could feel the suspension still wasn’t right. The front shocks failed. I drove back to them and showed them the problem. They told me to drive home (to Komatipoort, 100km away) and test the bakkie and then they will come fetch the bakkie and then I can report on everything that’s faulty so they can have it fixed. After driving the bakkie this is what I found; • Shocks that failed • The lights weren’t set right • Noisy gearbox • Noisy release bearing • No toolkit • No service book • Fog lights broken • Smash and grab was poorly installed • Wheel alignment • Intercooler was damaged, leaking oil • Battery faulty • Passenger window doesn’t closed correctly. • There were G4S markings on the bakkie’s bonnet where a sticker was clearly placed. • Handbrake lining was loose and falling out. • Hazzard button wasn’t working. • Front grill was loose. • The tyres were damaged because of the Suspension and wheel alignment. • Arial broken. • No spare key. The bakkie went back to them to be fixed. When I went to fetch the bakkie, only the suspension was done and they were still busy doing the smash and grab were fixed. To make it even worse the front window was now cracked. Nothing else was fixed. I asked about the spare key and they told me that the lady who had the key to the safe was on leave but that the spare key was in their possession and when she comes back I could get the key. Again I had to go back home with a bakkie that wasn’t right and then bring it back again on promises that things will be fixed. I came back to have the new tyres fitted, while fitting the tyres we found that the wheel nuts were in disrepair. I went back home. With my next visit to them I enquired about the service book, service history, the toolkit and the spare key. This time the lady who had the safes key, was at the hospital with her child. The service book they would order for me, and then they gave me spare tools that were just lying around that doesn’t even match the bakkies’ needs. They said that when I bring my bakkie for a service they will give me the right tools and then have all the other faults fixed. Last week, 16th Aug Wednesday afternoon, I took my bakkie back. I sat with Gerrie and Kevin in the office. Gerrie, dealer principle, was rude and told me that I can’t still come back after 3 months with all these problems and tried to accuse me of half the problems on the vehicle. He said that it’s up to them whether to do a 101 inspection on a second hand vehicle and in this case they felt it wasn’t necessary. They said I should give them a day to have it all fixed and the bakkie serviced. By Thursday afternoon, after hearing nothing from them as usual, I phoned Kevin, only to find out that the bakkie wasn’t ready. I was told that they have done a 101 inspection and everything was fine, but there is no certificate to prove it. Friday, I phoned 7 times, by 17:15 I was told that my bakkie was done. Everything was finished and the service has been done. They didn’t have a driver to bring my bakkie back, but he said he will make a plan on Saturday. Saturday I heard nothing from him again. I phoned at 10:36. He said that they didn’t have a driver but he would send him early Monday morning so that he will be here at 08:00. I then decided to drive through to Nelspruit myself to fetch my bakkie. Upon arrival, my bakkie was still dirty. I asked Kevin if they don’t wash the vehicles after a service. He responded, that they didn’t know that I was coming to get the bakkie today so it hasn’t been washed. I opened the door and saw the handbrake lining still in poor condition, Kevin said, that he didn’t even check it but that he will now order a complete new unit. The arial wasn’t fixed. Kevin said that the new one was in the office and that I should drive around to the front of the building. As I got into the bakkie, I saw that the centre “entertainment consol” unit (which had to be replaced to have the broken hazard button fixed) was the wrong model for the bakkie, it belongs to a Ranger XL and I have a XLS. When asking Kevin about it, he rudely rep**** that this alone has cost him R7000 and that it isn’t his job to check that it was right. At this point both him and I were getting pretty fed up. He kept referring to “all my moaning”. He told me to take the bakkie home (AGAIN) and that he will send a driver on Monday morning to come fetch the bakkie and they will give me another ranger so that I could continue working, and that they will then keep my bakkie there until everything is fixed. I then asked him if I could pay for the service done on the bakkie. He said that I don’t have to worry about it because he had taken it upon him to pay for my service. I thanked him, got in my bakkie and drove down the road to Builders Warehouse. I opened the bonnet and I could see that nothing was even touched. There definitely wasn’t a service done! I drove back. I asked Kevin what they have done during this service. He said that they changed the oil and filters. I asked him to stand there while I opened the bonnet again. He stood there speechless and I asked him to please tell me whether it looks like my bakkie was serviced. He said no. He then said to me, “the bakkie was on the lift, maybe they serviced it from underneath”. Shocked I asked him how they would refill oil from underneath?? He said that he doesn’t know how it works, but that he did book the bakkie for a service and that he was invoiced for the service and that he would take the matter up with the workshop. I was upset, and Kevin again started talking about me “moaning” about all these “little things” and that I don’t have any more steps that I can take. He again said he will have it sorted and that they will come fetch my bakkie Monday morning. As I am writing this letter, it is 11:00 and I still haven’t heard from them and no one has come to fetch my bakkie. I have contacted a ford dealer who was nice enough to pull me the vehicles service history from the system. The bakkie I was told belonged to an elderly man, actually belonged to G4S, a security company and was last serviced in 2015. Furthermore, according to the system, this bakkie still belongs to them! Also a long list of warranty claims came to light. After all this, I decided this morning to get in under the bakkie to take a further look and I found a broken engine mounting, the transfer case leaking oil, left hand front drive shaft in disrepair, oil leaking from turbo, no anti freeze in cooling system, the vehicle has been sprayed over and all of this after the vehicle passed a 101 test a few days ago? All these lies over and over again is just unacceptable. I am outraged and disappointed that my journey with Produkta Nissan has come to this. After doing more research I also saw on Hallo Peter.com that I am not the first client whom had to deal with this. Something needs to be done.
