I hate Nissan

To whom it may concern I bought a Nissan Xtrail on the 27th June 2018, brand new from Nissan Northcliff, as this was my dream vehicle, it quickly turned into a nightmare. I spoke to MFC’s accounts department and they advised me that I must log a complaint through MFC. Here goes my story and I hope you will be the one that can solve this long lasting issue. I have also attached whatsapps with Nissan Sa 27 June 2018

Taken delivery of vehicle, found a big scratch on vehicle, they came to collect the vehicle a day later to repair the scratch October 2018 Taken my vehicle to Nissan Randburg for left front speaker distorting, they told me nothing was wrong, and that the people who did the smash and grab probably loosened a wire, which was not true since the speaker was still distorting Relocated to Alberton in January 2019 1 March 2019

My vehicle was due for it’s first service at 15 043km, I took the vehicle in and complained about the left front speaker distorting as well as terrible noises coming from the suspension when going over bumps, and steering wheel noisy, creeks when turning. They ordered a new speaker and told me they lubricated the suspension and steering column. To my surprise the noise was still there and got worse everyday. 25 March 2019

Took my vehicle to replace the left front speaker, after collection, I found the speaker still distorting 28 May 2019 I took my Nissan Xtrail to Nash Nissan Alberton for them to have a listen to the noise coming from my suspension and steering wheel. They requested that my vehicle be booked in on Wednesday the 29th, however, they could not assist with a loan vehicle because " your vehicle was not purchased at Nash Nissan".I then made arrangements to have the vehicle booked in on the 30th of May. 30 May 2019 I was only contacted on Thursday late afternoon to advise that my vehicle was ready for collection. No communication from the dealership to update me on why the vehicle was making a noise or that the problem was fixed. When picking up the vehicle from the dealership, I was asked to take the vehicle for a test drive with the service manager but I had no time to do so. I advised the dealership that I would drive home and let them know if the noise continues. According to the Service Manager and the job card they had to get a Nissan Technician to come and assess the vehicle. They replaced 2 complete struts and complete top shock mountings as well as lubricated the control arms and stabilizer bushes. I contacted the dealership on Monday the 3rd of June to advise them that the problem was not sorted. I could not reach the service manager, so I left a message for him to call me back. On the 5th of June, I still hadn’t received a call from Nash Nissan and the noise on my vehicle was even worse. 19 June 2019 I emailed the service manager and advised them that the issue was still there, he arranged for a technician to come to my house the following morning and the technician advised that it was the stabilizer bar creek and will order bushes. This does not make sense because according to the job card they had replaced that on the 30th May 2019. From June to October It was in and out of the dealership, the noise was much better after replacing the struts, but then there were other issues, there was a slight rattle/creek/knock difficult to describe and when test driven with the service manager and technician they told me that is normal, it’s the brake pads that is loose and must be like that so that the pads have breathing space, now honestly, do they think I’m stupid?? I also complained about the cruise control, once we drive in cruise control it goes faster by itself and does not keep the correct speed and was told by someone at Nissan that I must remember it is not a Mercedes…. seriously even if it is not a Merc surely a cruise control does the same thing in all vehicles, it is supposed to keep the speed, that is why a vehicle has cruise control. My vehicle also started making screeching noise when slowing down, at one point it sounded like I was in a butchery, and the handbrake light kept on flashing, I managed to record it and that is when I got Nissan SA involved. I logged a complaint with Nissan SA on the 30th October 2019. 23 October 2019 My vehicle went in for its 30 187km service and again I complained about the light that comes on, and the suspension noise. They did a service, replaced brake pads and again lubricated the suspension. 5 November 2019 I took my vehicle in for grinding noise while driving and handbrake light on at times, they replaced the alternator and I was told that they did not have stock and took an alternator of a new vehicle on their showroom floor. As per the job card they only claimed the part on the 31st December…bit fishy isn’t it? 25 November 2019

My husband and I took the vehicle in again for noise when slowing down, first he was told it is normal and after convincing them to test drive another vehicle they admitted the noise is not normal, they said it sounded like the noise was coming from the gearbox and advised us that the vehicle needs to be taken to Mayfair gearbox. We couldn’t leave the vehicle at that point and told them we will ring it on the 4th December 2019. We were in the process of moving back to Randburg, so had to arrange with my staff member to collect me at the dealership on the 4th. Nissan SA arranged for us to get a rental vehicle and it was dropped at our house, they gave us a Nissan NP300 because it was all they could get. With that being said, the mileage on the vehicle was +/-40 000km and if we made a sharp turn it sounded like the suspension was going to fall out. I contacted Thrifty car rental and told them about the problem and they advised me they will organize another vehicle and will come and swop. They came to swop the vehicle on the 9th December 2019, again with a Nissan Np300 but 4x4. We were on way to Naboomspruit and then Jeffreys Bay for holiday so we had no other choice to use that bakkie. Again the same noise from the bakkie, when turning sharp, it sounded like something was going to fall out. In the mean time we haven’t had feedback from Nissan or Nissan SA at all, and during our holiday we had to phone them to get feedback, firstly they said it was the valve body and replaced it. When they test drove the vehicle the noise was still there, they told us that the vehicle was going back to Nissan Alberton and they have to get a Nissan technical guy in, according to the DP the guy came to check the vehicle on the 31st December 2019. Up and till today, 23 January 2020 I still haven’t received my car back and apparently the vehicle needs a new gearbox. I spoke to Nissan SA when we got back from holiday and advised them that I am unhappy with the whole matter and also the vehicle I’ve been given, I am paying for a Xtrail but now driving a noisy bakkie. They arranged for me to collect a Nissan Xtrail from the dealership in Alberton. The vehicle they gave me is also a Xtrail and had 1610km on the clock when collected. Guess what…..this vehicle also has the same noise when going over bumps or uneven surfaces. My husband took the loan vehicle to Alberton and was told that the vehicle needs to be booked in…..I mean honestly…a loan vehicle brand new, booked in…….

From January 2020 to current

After lock down we relocated to Cape Town and had an issue with vehicle not starting, I took my car to DTM Helderberg and they advised me that the battery is in good condition and that they only recharged it. After getting stuck a few more times I took the car back and battery was replaced.

My vehicle makes funny when driving of, braking and turning steering wheel, again I took my car back to DTM and they said it was only the air box and backing plate that is loose, when I got my car back the noises was worse. We took my car back again yesterday and drove with the workshop manager. Finally, after test driving they advised me that the steering column needs to be replaced. I have contacted Nissan SA and waited for someone to call me back, still waiting.

I am so disgusted with Nissan and would not recommend anybody to buy a Nissan
