Extremely Disappointed with NISSAN
I am an owner of a Nissan Magnite EZ-Shift Acenta plus. I bought this car at Nissan Group1 in Kuilsriver and received it on 11 June 2024. On 11 July 2025 it had a mechanical issue. I placed the gear on Reversed as I was driving off. When I tried to changed the gear to A1 it didn’t want to change to the point that it had to be pushed back to the parking bay. I called Nissan SA and they allocated the Tow truck to pick it up. On the 14 July the car was moved from the Tow company storage to Nissan Group1 in Kuilsriver where it was only attended to on the 15 as they claimed that they received the car close to the end of business day on Monday. Thembakazi called me on Tuesday and informed me that the battery is dead. They need to submit the claim of the battery to warranty department, and they won’t be able to diagnose the car when the battery is flat. They received feedback on Thursday and informed me about it. The battery issue was sorted out on Monday the following week (21.07.2025) then they diagnosed the car. On the 22.05.2025 I received a call again from Thembakazi with feedback that the clutch actuator is dead and a claim will be submitted to warrant department again for this part. After not receiving feedback, I decide to call on the 24 July 2025. At this time, Thembakazi informed me that she has not received feedback from the warranty department. I asked if they could lend me a car for that period as I am struggling to move around and I have been making excuses at work as I don’t have transport. She informed me that they don’t have cars in their section, the only car they have is being used by their manager and Nissan SA only grant courtesy car if the parts are not available in South Africa. I then decided to call Nissan SA at 12h58 about getting a car for the time they are fixing mine and I was attended to by Sanele. Sanele told me that he will open a case, follow up with the dealership and get back to me. Sanale didn’t get back to me and I called back on Friday, but different people picked up my call and promised to ask him to call me back. One of the people I spoke with from Nissan SA advised me to contact the dealer and asked them to request a courtesy car on my behalf and motivate the reason for requesting it as Nissan SA only accept the requests from the dealership. I then called Thembakazi and informed her about courtesy car information I received from Nissan SA, and she told me that they won’t be able to request a courtesy car on my behalf as they don’t know which reason to put when requesting the courtesy car as no feedback has been received from warrant department. Thembakazi said she will follow up with warranty but if she doesn’t get back to me by 4pm the I should call Nissan SA and tell them the hold-up is on their side as no feedback was sent to Nissan Group1. I could not call Nissan SA at 4pm as I was on the transport from the office. At 16h48 Sanele called me and told me that he received feedback from Nissan Group 1 and was informed that my car was fixed and I collected it. I was surprised and told him that I am still without a car. He wanted to confirm the VIN number again as it could be that he got incorrect VIN number. I gave him the VIN number, and he confirmed that it is a correct VIN number and promised to call the dealership and get back to me. The weekend went by, and on Monday (yesterday) I called the again, and he said he contacted the dealership (spoke with Patricia), and she told him that they submitted a claim. In connection with the car to use whilst I’m still waiting for mine, he said he will contact the dealership again to check if they can’t loan me a car or request the courtesy car on my behalf then he will call me back for feedback before 2pm. After 2pm I call, and he was on lunch, but he did not return my call. This morning, I called again luckily, he picked up the call. He told me that the dealership didn’t respond to his email. I asked him if it is possible to call the dealership, and he promised to call them and give me feedback… still waiting. My experience with Nissan is extremely disappointing. I am about to pay an instalment for that car on the 31st but I’m currently using an Uber/InDrive and a bus to travel. No one wants to take responsibility; I feel like Nissan is playing hide and seek when it comes to fix their defective cars. All they care about is making sales, once the car is out of their hand they don’t care anymore. NISSAN SA, please tell me, If you were in my shoes, how would you survive 3 weeks without a car whilst you are paying an instalment for the car?
