Case ***1 / JN1JCAT32Z*** / Nissan X-Trail Complaint and dispute - Brake problems from 30 to 45 thousand km for my manual 1.6 Turbo Diesel Nissan X-Trail

Case ********** 1 / JN1JCAT32Z ********** / Nissan X-Trail Complaint and dispute - needing the skimming of front discs and replacement of front brake pads - Nissan X-Trail ND 674 947

Very poor feedback and no effort by Nissan SA to consider the circumstances of this dispute. No response from Nissan SA when asked to escalate the dispute and provide me with the dispute mechanism details and relevant Ombudsman details. Simply no interest.

This is an exercise in comparison which is what Nissan SA fail to understand.

This dispute concerns my current Nissan X-trail manual 1.6 Turbo Diesel ND674 947 which I purchased new about 2 years ago from Nissan Amanzimtoti, and which has had brake problems from 30 000km culminating in new brake pads all round and the front discs being skimmed all at my expense.

I have owned three (3) Nissan X trails driven over the last 14 years, all three manual, all purchased new, all with full service records. I have NEVER had to replace brake pads and skim discs at anything close to 45000km for any of the previous Nissan XTrails I have driven.

Nissan have failed to explain the huge discrepancy of experience between the three Nissan X-Trails which I have driven and why with very similar driving circumstances. I believe this is a manufacturing and quality issue which Nissan is failing to address adequately. I have owned the following Nissan X-Trails: The first a manual 2 litre petrol purchased in mid-2005 registration ND 122 138 from Nissan Centurion and serviced up until mid 2008 at the Rustenburg Nissan Dealership, and from mid 2008 at Royce-Love Nissan in Durban South (now Imperial Nissan), Thereafter the second Nissan X Trial from 2010/11 a manual 2 litre Diesel Cdi model purchased from this same dealership and with a full service record registration ND 635 073. To re-iterate, I have driven the same distance and route since moving to KZN in 2008 having worked for the same Company for nearly 20 years. I have also lived in the same house for 10 years and with no significant changes to driving conditions. Given the direct and irrefutable comparisons I can draw between the service records of the 3 Nissan X-Trails, all 3 manual, purchased new, and all three driven by myself in the same conditions, it is simply not feasible that the problems with the front brakes are as a result of so called “driving conditions” which is what Nissan SA contend. I’d like to receive a formal reply from Nissan SA on email in response and I welcome the comparisons that you will be able to make using the service records of all three vehicles - I assure you problems with brakes for a Nissan X-Trail starting between 30000km culminating in front discs being skimmed and front pads replaced at 45000km is unheard of for me!

Very Poor Show Nissan SA!!

Exactly a week later and absolutely no response from Nissan SA! It seems their strategy is just to ignore customers feedback and complaints.

Nissan SA are officially a joke. Absolutely no response at all to my posting and emails to them. My advise...buy Toyota or Hyundai and avoid this bunch of clowns. Nissan SA, you are pathetic!!

I'm referring this dispute to the Motor Vehicle Ombudsman now. Disgusting service Nissan SA. All who read this - don't buy a Nissan vehicle!!
