Broken Promises and No Parts – Nissan SA Must Do Better
Dear Hello Peter community, I’m posting this to highlight the unacceptable service I’ve received from Nissan South Africa regarding a critical ECU part for my vehicle. For weeks, I was reassured—through weekly calls from Nissan SA—that the ECU part would arrive by 15 July 2025. I planned accordingly and remained patient. However, on the very day the part was expected, I was informed that it’s still on back order with no ETA available. This sudden reversal, after repeated confirmations, is deeply frustrating and unprofessional. To make matters worse: - I offered to pay for air freight to expedite the part’s arrival, yet it appears this was never arranged. - My vehicle has been unusable for over 7 months in a 6 year period, broken down as follows: - 3–4 months waiting for ECU and wiring harness replacement (under warranty) - Nearly 2 months waiting for a gearbox bracket (out of warranty) - Over 1 month and counting for the current ECU issue—with no resolution in sight I’ve been more than reasonable—patient, proactive, and even willing to cover costs to speed things up. Yet Nissan has failed to deliver even the most basic level of customer service. I’m now urgently requesting: - A confirmed and accurate ETA for the ECU part - Clarification on why air freight was not arranged as previously stated - Immediate escalation to Nissan Motor Corporation if resolution cannot be provided locally Nissan, this is not how a reputable brand should treat its customers. I hope this post prompts real accountability and action.
