AIRCON PARTS PAID FOR AND NOT REPLACED DURING 90000km SERVICE, ENDING IN BROKEN EVAPORATOR
I think this situation should be reported to some motor board, if there is something like that.
Firstly, to any potential buyers of Nissan/Renault, please enquire what the next service will cost you. You are going to get a big surprise like me.
My Nissan Qashqai was booked for its 90000km service on 31 August 2017. This service was R9500! My savings had to cover for this service as this was not within my budget, but HEY if Nissan says a certain part must be replaced at 90000km's then there is a reason for this.
Part of this service that I paid for, was labour and 2 parts on the aircon to be replaced. The 2 part were a cabin air filter T31 and an air cleaner element, amounting to R820 (VAT excl). PLEASE TELL ME THIS NISSAN, after completion of a service, who on earth going to remove the passenger cabin and check if a reputable dealership like Nissan, has ACTUALLY replaced these parts???
Well, on the 16th of October I took the Qashqai to an auto electrician to fix my aircon. Firstly, the auto electrician informed me that the cabin air filter have to be replaced and that Nissan should have replaced this with the service. No wonder Nissan suggest that a filter and element should be replaced at 90000km. What a surprise to find out that the evaporator is broken (a whopping R5,500.00 for the part itself).
Beyond the inconvenience of not having a car days, who has another 10 grand to spend after taking a 10 grand precaution of servicing your car for things like this NOT to happen.
Calling and asking for the workshop manager on the 18th of October to inform and resolve this issue, I still haven't heard anything.
