2016 Qashqai Brakes and lack of after sales service from Nissan and McCarthy Nissan Randburg

I purchased a Nissan Qashqai 1.2 CVT last April. Since that date I’ve been nothing but disappointed in Nissan South Africa and McCarthy Nissan Randburg. I have been experiencing problems with my brakes from the get go – not something you play around with, but I feel like Nissan is trying anything to avoid taking responsibility for this. My brakes falter when I reverse down a hill at a specific angle. It has also happened to me whilst driving forward in traffic. Essentially, the ABS kicks in when it shouldn’t and the brakes make a ‘grinding’ noise. I struggle to believe that this is a standard feature on the car as has been explained to me numerous times by Nissan – if so, I encourage any and everyone to avoid purchasing it – it’s not worth the effort. In November my car went in for a system upgrade which was supposed to almost clear the issue. Within a week or so, it was back. Since 12 December I have called the Randburg branch a number of times only to be told that they are trying to get a demo to run tests against from head office. It’s been almost two months. I was also told by the service department in Randburg that they would call me weekly to give updates on progress – but that was just a promise that once again hasn’t been followed through. I cannot believe that this is the quality of after sales service that is offered when purchasing a car that costs as much as the Qashqai did.
