Rude, unfair & dishonest service!

<p>This was the first visit we had to News Cafe - Northview, and I can promise that it will be the last! We arrived just after 7.30pm and the restaurant was rather empty. We sat at the bar and ordered two Richelieu's & cokes, before moving outside to the smoking area. We had decided to leave shortly after 11 pm and when I asked for the bill, I was completely shocked! Our bill had stated that we had 18 Richelieu shots, with ONLY 7 cokes?! This was unbelievable as we were only two people who had drunk 5 SINGLE shots of Richelieu in a space of 3 & a half hours, not to mention that we had used ONE coke for every two drinks bought. The waitress insisted that we had been drinking double shots, firstly which we had never requested & secondly, which must have been very tiny shots because even with the ice, the glass was not even a quarter filled with alcohol. After calling the barman who had initially assisted us, he insisted that my partner requested TWO double Richelieu & coke shots. As I explained to the barman that this was not the case, and he was blatantly lying, we requested to speak to the manager who did not even apologise for the inconvenience, but instead offered to have a lousy R50 taken off from our bill! We felt very humiliated as the waitress and manager spoke in a language we did not understand, almost as to say that we could not afford the bill and were looking for an easy way out of paying for the bill! After arguing and venting my frustrations, I eventually paid the bill (R600), despite us not having drunk 18 Richelieu shots in 3 hours, when each of us only had 5 shots - there is still 8 unaccounted for shots!</p> <p>The manager and waitress took no responsibility in resolving our dispute & did not even apologise about the mix-up. I am extremely disappointed in the level of service and lack of professionalism from this establishment and needless to say, I will not be putting foot in News Cafe - Northview again! I do expect a formal apology for the humiliation caused by your employees.</p>
