New Debt unauthorized debit

New Debt tried to debit R 2500 from my bank account. I have no idea what for or where they got my details. They never communicated with me regarding this to inform me what the debit is for or what their intentions are. I wonder if I can go to the SAPS and lay a charge of attempted theft ?
