Unresponsive and unreliable
The tracker is becoming increasingly non‑responsive and, more importantly, unsafe. When the panic button is pressed, there is a noticeable delay before the system responds. Instead of immediately triggering an emergency alert, it sends an SMS asking the user to confirm their situation by pressing 1 if in danger or 2 if not.
This approach is fundamentally flawed. In a real emergency, a person may be under direct threat, physically restrained, injured, or forced to act quickly and discreetly. Expecting someone to wait for an SMS, read it, understand it, and then respond appropriately assumes they have time, freedom of movement, and full presence of mind — conditions that simply do not exist in many dangerous situations.
A panic button is meant to function as an instant, one‑step lifeline. The moment it is pressed, help should be alerted automatically and without further interaction. Introducing delays and confirmation steps not only slows down the response time but actively increases risk. In scenarios such as an attack, hijacking, medical emergency, or any situation where seconds matter, this design could result in serious harm or worse.
Requiring additional user input completely undermines the purpose of a panic button. Instead of providing reassurance and protection, the current process creates uncer*****y, stress, and vulnerability. A safety device should reduce cognitive load during emergencies, not add to it. As it stands, the system prioritises confirmation over immediate action, which makes it unreliable and unsafe for real‑world emergency use.
