Tricking clients with terms and conditions

So a few months ago someone called me from Altech netstar to set up a tracker on my vehicle, knowing I might sell the car I explained to him that I might sell the car, he explained to me that I can cancell at anytime or even transfer it to the new car if I purchase. I was happy with this because I thought it would be possible to cancel at any time. So I received a second call just to confirm the details, this lady explained the terms and conditions and in the terms and conditions she explained that it's over a 36 month period, the only time I heard this is today when I tried cancelling my tracker, no person in their right mind would pick that up so quickly. Now they want me to pay a cancelation fee of over R1000, moral of the story, altech Netstar is tricking people into taking tracker with them, please spread the word and let's put a stop to this pathetic business. I was never sent a contract and the only time I heard from them again was when I called to cancel
