No helping in settlement

I sold my car over a year ago. I wanted to cancel the Netstar contract, but it would have been too much to settle at once. I called today and was told I'm being put through to retentions so they can assist with a settlement amount. After 10 minutes of waiting I hanged up the call. Please can someone help me with this?
