I do not feel safe

Yesterday I drove from my house to the nearvy shopping centre, a trip of some 4 minutes. I forgot to cancel the Netstar alarm before I left home. Because the radio was on in the car, I did not hear the audible alarm. When I got to the shopping centre and opened my window I heard the alarm and cancelled it.

While I was doing my shopping I got more and more concerned because Netstar did not phone me. So, when I got in the car again to drive home, I pressed the panic button. I was then phoned some 10 minutes later to ask whether I and the car were safe. I explained that I did not get a call for the first alarm and thus pushed the panic button to see if the system worked at all. They then said that they did not phone me on the first alarm because I reset the alarm.

Overnight I got more and more concerned about this and contacted them again this morning. They are adamant that that is our agreement: that if I cancel the alarm they accept that all is well. I asked them how do they know that it was me that cancelled the alarm and not someone else. After all, the car has moved some 5 km from its original position.

My problem is that I have the Netstar service for four cars and rely on them to keep my cars and myself safe. If it was an unauthorised person that got hold of my keys, dearming the system, he/she could subsequently drive away with the car without them tracking it. And, even worse, I could have been hijacked and forced to dearm the system.

I have been with Netstar for 20 years or longer, and was impressed with their service during the early years. They even prevented one of my cars from being ****** by remotely cutting the fuel supply. But now, the new systems do not have that functionality (they claim the manufacturers do not want them to integrate their systems with the car's electronics). And then, the new systems already being functionally lacking, their monitoring control room have excuses for not protecting me and my property to the best of their ability.
