Failure to disclose contract period on agreement

I have recently sold my BMW which had a Netstar tracking device installed, a requirement from Outsurance. When calling the "customer care" center to cancel my subscription, I spoke to a agent with the name of Ncumisa Funeka. She informed me that should I cancel now, there would be a early settlement fee charged. For a car/device I no longer have/use. When I asked her to send me the ORIGINAL contract I signed, knowing I had a copy in front of me, she agreed and later sent "her version". The contract she sent me was dated 4 October 2022 (today`s date!). All of a sudden the contract contained ALL the information of the policy, including a contract term of 36 months. Having the ORIGINAL in front of me, I can confirm that there was no mention of a 36 month contract on the ORIGINAL contract.

I paid for the monthly subscription from MY bank account, and my insurer did not pay this on my behalf. If Ncumisa Funeka actually understood the products Netstar offers, she would have known that the 36 month contract is in fact for customers where their insurance company pays the Netstar monthly fees on YOUR behalf.

I might be mistaken with regards to this whole story, however without a contract period being mentioned on the original agreement/contract, how can a customer be held liable for a early settlement if they have sold the vehicle in question??
