Hope this complaint finds everyone well , on the 8th of April 2024 I was scheduled to have a tracking device fitted to my vehicle at 11:00 , which It did , as per usual as clients are not supposed to see where the tracking device is fitted , I pulled the car into the garage put the lights on for the technician so that the technician could see what they were doing and left the keys with them and went and made myself coffee. After the technician finished the installation at 12:29 we went onto the the app to get everything sorted , it seemed like the technician needed to hurry to get to their other half or spouse as they just got off the phone with them to help me. We got the log in and everything sorted the technician told me they have to go I must just look for a blue location marker , which I couldn't see , so I let the technician out of the gate and tried connecting to the tracking device from my phone which It didn't seem to want to so I left it after trying for a few minutes at 12:35 I left the house to go back to work and quickly stopped at the local shell garage to put in some fuel , the petrol attended asked me if I wanted the oil and water checked as I said no the oil and water should be fine as I recently had the car serviced so the petrol attendant only put in fuel as I requested and at 12:55 I left to go back to work , on my way down field's hill on the M13 everything went well , no concerns , just past the Pinetown off ramp around a blind corner at around 13:00 the bonnet came flying up and in the process almost lost control of the vehicle, I then had to proceed driving with my hazards on for a few hundred meters to get to the nearest painted Island in relatively busy traffic which I had to duck and dive for , I then had to proceed to phone my pregnant wife and tell her that her husband is stranded and he won't be able to be at work , to just let everyone know. At 13:14 I took pictures of the damage and as I did so , I got surrounded with harrowing tow truck drivers and about 4 ambulances with the one Ambulance driver opening the door whilst in motion and nearly knocked me off my feet, whilst in shock I told them I'm fine and there is help on the way , two of my ***orkers then soon arrived and we took the bonnet off as it was so badly damaged we couldn't even get it to close. We then proceeded to go back to work where we could assess the damage for insurance purposes which turned out to be quite a bit , both frond fenders were damaged , the bonnet hinges were damaged and the bonnet aswell and then proceeded to put the bonnet back and close it as it was raining at the time and i didnt want to damage any of the electronics inside the bonnet , so I then tried phoning netstar pinetown branch which the phone didn't even ring to tell them what happened and couldn't get hold of them , then I got hold of the call center to try and get some answers , so the following day they sent out another technician and a manager to come have a look at the damage at 14:00 on the 9th of April 2024 , so I told them what happened and they took pictures of the damage and then proceeded to tell me this is a " tough one " because according to them their technician claimed to closed the bonnet properly and all work was carried out according to standard and tried blaming it on a defective bonnet latchfrom the factory and I told them I am going to hold them liable as they were the last ones to open and close the bonnet , not even half an hour after they worked on the vehicle . They then proceeded to tell me they are going to do their own internal investigation and will get back to me with a report. It is important to note that I have driven more than 14 000 kilometers with the same bonnet latch from factory without any incidents to Richard's Bay and back multiple times and with the conditions of the roads if it was a faulty bonnet latch hitting a few pot holes would have let the bonnet fly at 120 km/h , but NO. The following day on the 10th of April 2024 I personally went to the dealership where I did my vehicle's service and told them what happened and asked them if it could be a defective part , they said it is impossible because if it was a defective part they would have warranty claimed it and they wouldn't have released the car back to me until it was replaced and cleared , they even had a service technician yank the bonnet into oblivion in its damaged state to check if it would open which It did not , and according to them it was in 100 % working order. They do a 40 point check before each service to look for things like doors opening and closing properly including bonnet and boot etc. Which the vehicle passed with flying colors as its not even a year old. On the 12th of April at 15:18 I received the report back from Netstar stating that they have also consulted with the dealership of the vehicle and its the first time ever they have heard of a bonnet opening by itself while in motion and then added photos of the same model of vehicle with its bonnet open not listening to me after I told them the technician might have closed the bonnet but not properly basically telling me we don't care what your side of the story is we will take what you said and put our own spin to it , nevertheless the email stated that they will not be held liable for the damages and that they take these matters very seriously. My ass . I have driven now for than 400 km with the same f@cked up bonnet and the same bonnet latch driving on highways and the bonnet has still not opened on me. So you connect the dots and tell me I'm a **** and that my bonnet latch is faulty, the bonnet as then been opened 3 times since the incident and still has not opened , I will hold Netstar liable for the damages foe the proof is in the pudding.
