Car tracking device not operational for 7 months. Paying for a service not received.
I've bought my very first car in February 2016 and had a Netstar tracking device installed in it. After a year I traded my vehicle in for a different model in February 2018 which also had a tracker installed. In November 2018 I received my last travel log report with the last entry being on the 11th of November 2018. Due to life being busy it never occurred to me that I have stopped receiving these monthly logs. By then I started investigating the situation as I've been paying R266.31 every month to Netstar. I decided to install the Safe & Sound mobile application to see if I could track my vehicle. My car was not showing on the landing page. So I decided to call them. After waiting for what felt like a lifetime I managed to reach a consultant. He advised that my tracker was faulty and that I'd have to pay a call-out fee and an amount to get the unit either fixed or replaced as it was somehow out of warranty. By this time I've only had my vehicle about 9-10 months and it was brand new when I got it. My question then was, "Should my car have been hijacked/******, how would Netstar have recovered it as the tracker has been faulty for over half a year?". Generic replies seemingly read of a list was given back with no explanation at all. I've decided to email Netstar on 28 May 2019 attaching the last two travel reports I received providing proof of the date on which the tracker stopped functioning. It has been R1 597.86 since it stopped working whereby I have been paying for a service was not receiving. Coming end of June it will be another R266.31 deducted from my bank account.
It is incredibly unfair toward customers that Netstar does not even contact them, "Sir/Madam. Our system is informing us that your tracking is not making any contact and has ceased to log data. Please let us arrange an appointment at a fitment center for you to have it repaired/replaced." But no... Sadly no engagement from Netstar's side. By reading some reviews on HelloPeter I am seemingly not the only one who have/are experiencing this abhorred customer service. I've followed up on my email that I've written to them and should I not hear back from them by the 20th of June 2019 I'm cancelling my debit order in an attempt to be contacted. Be it from their finance department it'll be a tat more than what I'm currently experiencing.
My advice to future customers: Stay far away if you don't want to get **********.
