Birthday gift not delivered on birthday

I ordered a gift for my father to be delivered on his birthday well in advance. But nothing arrived on the day. When I phoned to follow up they said they would deliver 2 days later. Seriously? They advertise same-day delivery on their website. Surely a plan could have been made. A real pity because I have used them before and they were always punctual. Now I have to follow up on my orders days in advance to make sure delivery is actually done?
