Poor service

I ordered flowers for a birthday. Out of experience I have learnt to order them a day before as delivery only happens late afternoon. Ordered at 9:50 on Wednesday morning 9 October but have not received them today 10 October. I phoned but they could not commit to deliver before a meeting in the morning the 11th. How can you promise delivery and then fail to meet the customer's expectation.
