Don't buy orchids from Netflorist
I just thought I'd share my experience with Netflorist. About a month ago I made my first Netflorist order for a mini orchid to be as a gift to my mother. The day of the delivery I get an email saying that it has been delivered to Des. Since I was at home and nobody came to deliver, called them immediately, and a friendly agent told me it was an error. The delivery is still to come. When my delivery came, I received a beautiful orchid, full of flowers, in a pot without any holes and with sand. Now I'm sure you should know that orchids should never be planted in sand. About a week later all of the flowers fell off and leaves started to break off. My mother is quite good with orchids, and this was an unusual case. After further investigation, I realised it was due to crown rot, something that I did not cause (at first I thought maybe it was overwatering before it was sent to me). I sent pictures to Netflorist and showed them the problems, and the kind agent sent me a brand new orchid for free. Now, this is when I inspected the second one. This time they put it in proper orchid mix and not sand. I found the cause for the crown rot (why my orchid just wouldn't grow). The plastic stick with which the card is attached to was being poked right into the crown of the orchid (right in the middle, where the leaves form). After removing the plastic stick, the orchid starts to rot there. I emailed Netflorist to tell them and called them, they just thanked me for the feedback but didn't know what to say. I know feel that Netflorist is purposefully doing that so that the orchids die so that we buy new ones.
I'm very disappointed and disgusted at the way the plants are being handled. In terms of customer service, Netflorist is fine, but whoever is handling the plants need training/are doing this on purpose.
I will not buy from Netflorist again. I now have 2 dear orchids due to their lack of interest in the plants that they sell.
