A Surprising Experience

I ordered a bouquet of sunflowers for my wife, to surprise her at work. It went well, and she got a kick out of the fact that I signed it from me and our two foster daughters.

The one tiny thing was that SHE got a WhatsApp from Netflorist to tell her that her surprise would be delivered before the end of the day.

Hmm. Yeah, that did sort of dampen the impact of said surprise a little.

I do understand, though: it's important for Netflorist to make sure that the person will be available to take delivery, because she might've left early if it hadn't been for the WhatsApp. Or if it hadn't been my wife but someone buying flowers for someone they didn't know very well, they might not be there at all that day, or whatever.

So yeah, it's understandable. Especially since Netflorist don't commit to a specific time, and the flowers actually only arrived just as my wife was about to leave work for the day, so she very easily could've missed them.

But yeah. All's well that ends well. She got her gift, she was suitably surprised and happy. Nothing more to say, really. I like Netflorist; I use them a lot.

Oh, and the fact that they even use WhatsApp and not SMS is a big plus. I wonder if they support Signal, too? I've been looking for reasons to reduce my dependence on WhatsApp and Telegram for a while now, so if I could choose "Signal" as a preferred channel, that might help put another nail in the big boys' coffins.... 🤔
