WORST SERVICE EVER AT SECTION 6, GARDEN CITY HOSPITAL

My mom was admitted to Garden City 5 weeks ago to have knee replacement surgery. She was in a lot of pain after the operation. If she was lucky she would get attention 3 hours after she rang the nurses bell. She needed to go to the toilet, after hours of waiting two nurses assisted her to the toilet, but they let her fall and she hurt the knee which she had surgery on. My mom was discharged after a couple of days, the doctor gave instructions to the nurse for after care at home. No prescription was given to her husband on the day of discharge, the wrong date to visit her doctor was recorded on the discharge paper. I phoned the doctor's reception and they informed that my mom should have visited the doctor the day before. We took her to see her doctor, who found that her wound had gone ceptic and he admitted her back into Garden City. She had to have an operation to clean the wound and the doctor asked a nurse to make sure that my mom has something to eat at 5 in the morning, to prevent her sugar levels to fall too low before the operation. The nurse swore high and low that she would personally see to this, the next morning my mon had nothing to eat and she was operated on in the late afternoon, with low blood sugar levels. After this incident they are over medicating her to the point that she can hardly speak. When we visit her at 11 in the morning her breakfast tray is still standing there, not one of the nurses will help her to eat. I asked one of the nurses if she could feed my mom, she rep**** that they do not force feed the patients. My mom needs to eat to get better, if one of our family members are not with her when she receives her food, she does not eat. Yesterday the physio therepast forced my mom to get up in her drugged up state and tried to let her stand up, My mom collapsed on the knee where she had surgery and the knee burst open and bled profusely. Her husband was with her at the time but he was quickly ushered out of the ward, the nurse saying it was not that bad. Today she had to go into teatre again to have skin grafts done on the knee, directly as a cause of the fall. The fall was not recorded in her file and when we asked her doctor why this was not recorded, he said they fill in a different report for accidents, We visited my mom today, she is so over medicated that she cannot hold a tea s**** in her hand. Her speech is slurry and she is delusional. Her general physician visits her every morning, does not speak to her, just signs her file and leaves. If he spoke to her he would notice how drugged up she is. My mom needed a lower bed, the physio therepast asked the nurses to bring a lower bed to my mom's ward, she was ignored. She went and fetched a bed on her own and asked some of the sisters to help her to make up the new bed. While they were busy, the matron stromed in and made a big stink that they were helping to get my mom a lower bed. Later my mom was totally ignored for 4 hours because of the incident, she had to urinate in her pants because she could not get assistance to go to the toilet. A porter who collected my mom from the ward, pushed his thumb through my mom's hand, now she as a huge sore on her hand. When we speak to the nurses on duty, they look you up and down and walk away. Their attitudes towards the patients are shocking, to say the least. Dr Bhutt, her specialist, gave instruction that my mom must be turned every hour to prevent pressure sores, this instruction is ignored by the nurses. Since my mom has been admitted to Garden City she has gone from being okay to worse and worse everytime we visit her. We are very worried about my mom and we dred leaving her there, the nurses have all turned nasty towards her because we complained about their conduct.
