Unitas Hospital, worst experience ever.

Good day, I would like to report the absolute appalling service that I have experienced at Unitas hospital. I was admitted to Unitas on 17 August 2017 and discharged on 18 August 2017. I was admitted as an emergency, as my GP Dr. DP Venter suspected that I had an obstruction in my intestines. He referred me to Dr. Wigget, who saw me for 2 minutes and decided it was best to admit me immediately, as I was in massive amounts of pain. He instructed the lady at his reception to arrange for a bed and for a nasogastic tube to be inserted ASAP, to drain the excess gas and water in my stomach. A total of 1.8L was drained, which is quite a lot. Dr. Wigget then came to see me in hospital. He advised that he ordered a CT scan as well as a gastroscopy to be done in theater, to access the damage and/or cause. Firstly, I waited almost 2 hours for a sister to insert the tube. I was crying from pain and could not sit, stand or lie down, and all they could say was they are waiting for my stickers to be printed. Once the tube was inserted I felt instant relief, which I was very grateful for. But it took extremely long for that to happen, which I today feel a bit angry about. I was then informed that I will be going for the partial CT scan as instructed by Dr. Wigget. The ladies there was very helpful, and I was informed of the R1500.00 co-payment that would have to pay, which I had no problem with. I then spent the night, in which I have to inform you, was appalling conditions. The rooms are very over crowded. And just my luck, the only waste bin and basin was right in my small little corner ( where not even a visitor could fit). Which meant that every person who wanted to was their hands or throw something away had to do in right over me. Sometimes even missing the bin and leaving the medical waist on the floor. The room was dirty, and i don't think my sheets were changed once. The following day I was told that I would go for the gastroscopy as arranged. I signed a consent form for the anesthesia, but that was it. I was not informed of anything regarding the procedure, let alone the co-payment. To my shock, I logged onto my Medihelp profile, just to find that I have a R2800.00 co-payment on the gastroscopy. I immediately phoned my medical aid, who informed me that they have not received any form of authorization for this procedure. I also never received any form of request for authorization nor approval thereof. They can only see on the account that this procedure was done (without an ICD10 code), and that is why they billed the co-payment. They asked me to contact the case manager for Medihelp at Unitas, and ask them to send through the appropriate documentation so that they can write of the co-payment, as it was done as an emergency. I have tried getting hold of this supposed case manager, but to no avail. No answer, every time I phone. I am now at my wits end, and would like this to be sorted out as soon as possible.

Furthermore, the medical aid has also not received the referral letter for my CT scan, which means they do not want to pay the account until that has been received. I have also phoned radiology numerous times, yet again to no answer. I was also informed by my medical aid that according to there records I was released on 20 August 2017. Which is not the case, I was released on 18 August 2017. I want this to be corrected also, as this is ***** and I will report it to the correct department should this not be. I am very unhappy about my experience at Unitas. If this issue is not addressed urgently, I will definitely not be making use of your services again. I was in hospital with pneumonia at Zuid Afrikaans about a month back, and there were absolutely no issues. My future business will definitely be taken there. I will also be posting this on all social media options available.
