***ual harassment
I've just been seen by Dr. Mathebula from Netcare Pholoso Polokwane in the emergency room. He was extremely unprofessional, he came into the room and side hugged me, I was not sure why he did that, I attributed it to him being nice (weird as it was). He then came too close, I was seated in the bed and he was standing right next to me, his body touching my thighs. I was not too uncomfortable, he was checking my ear after all. But then I started telling him how painful the ear was and he still didn't move. I told him the ear was do painful that I couldn't sleep on my right hand side, he made a comment that women always lie on their backside anyway. I dismissed this by saying "not really"... he insisted, and still didn't move even though he was done checking my ear. I moved aside because I was not comfortable at this point. His comment and how he kept touching me made me uncomfortable. He said you only need a few medicines, took my hand to count the medication I would need. I pulled my hand away, he moved to put the equipment away and came back. Very close again. With no reason. I moved again. I asked him not to prescribe any medication that would make me drowsy (because it's exam season). He asked what I was studying while he was standing right there next to me. I said he wouldn't know what the course since he's in medicine. He insisted, looking me straight in the face asked, what are you studying. I told him, then he was like, don't worry, I won't prescribe medication that will make you drowsy, he said this and moved his hand on my chin like I was his child or girlfriend. I moved away, again. Then he walked out of the room, all smiles and jolly.
This made me uncomfortable. I hated being in that room with him. But I was not sure who to tell. My husband was far. And I really didn't want to cause a scene. But the more I thought of this, as I was waiting for medication in the pharmacy, the more angry it made me. I went back to the receptionist to make sure I have his right name. His name is Dr. Mathebula.
