Think twice

On Sunday 6 February, I fell off my motorbike. I had a long laceration on my left shin and sprained my right thumb very bad. I went to Casualties at the Krugersdorp Private Hospital. A Doctor attended to me and the nursing staff cleaned the blood off my leg. Another doctor came and started preparing to do the stitching up (clips). He injected local anaesthetic in and around the wound, called the nursing assistant to help and immediately started to insert the clips, I could feel everything. The wound was never cleaned and the hair around the wound not shaved. I was given antibiotics and an antiseptic cream to apply to the wound. On my return on Friday 11 February a doctor assessed the wound and said it looked infected, the nursing assistant cleaned the wound and said I had to do the same at home twice a day. This morning 17 February I visited my GP, the infection as bad as on the 11th. He was shocked when I enlightened him of the treatment.
