The WORST hospital in the Netcare group (Clinton Hospital)

Netcare Clinton Hospital

The worst experience of my life.

I have never co across hospital staff that is so rude and disinterested in what they do, worse when you are of color it’s as though you are not supposed to come to the hospital.

From the rude receptionist who has no people skills and who thought i was there for some sort of handout or not paying for a service, She asked me who my gynae was and when I told her my gynae's name she asked me where he is based and I said Mulbarton she asked why am I coming here if he is based in Mulbarton, I can choose whatever hospital I want to go to and unfortunately this horrible hell hole is the one on my hospital network and the closest to me since I reside in the south of Johannesburg.

The receptionist was rude from the day I went to go book my bed till the day I got admitted,(from her demeanor you can tell she doesn't want to be here, which is a surprise to me because this is her daily job) as if that was not enough I received appalling service from the nurses who were rostered to work day shift on the 05th May at the maternity ward.

I gave birth on the 04 May at 08:49 am and on the 05 May I requested something for pain around 10 am from nurse 1 (Busi) who took almost an hour to get me some sort of help, when nurse 2 (karen) came she gave me an injection while on my feet in the bathroom, this is now around 11:30 am, the pains subsided and I could manage looking after baby ,around 16:00 pm I requested something for pain again because for some weird reason I had severe burn sensation on my right side of my C-section scar (still dressed) Nurse 2 (karen) then went ahead and called to what seems to be the head of nurses (Jeanet) by her rude and condescending tone when coming to address as to why I am requesting pain medication and that I had received medication the same as everyone else, screaming at her top of her lungs and calling me by my bed number, I kept quiet because i was in severe pain and didn't have the energy to argue with someone who thinks they are superior because maybe I am not paying for this service or of color to get an ounce of respect.

The next morning Hattie very rude came to ask me why i complained and to my surprise mentioned that i requested an injection, I dismissed her because she too was very rude and didn't come to listen as to why I am dissatisfied with the treatment I received

This hospital is the worst in the netcare network, it is clear that if you are not Afrikaans speaking you will not receive proper care, which you pay for, this is not a government hospital where I’m at the mercy of nurses who do not love their jobs,

Our pain thresholds are not the same and for me to speak up and ask for something to manage the pain means it’s unbearable, this is not my first csection, I went to Mulbarton hospital for my first and never experienced any issues where pain was unbearable because the nurses there know they took a pledge to serve people and two understand that people are not the same and were always there to assist in any way possible.

I didn’t get assistance with the birth certificate, am assuming it’s because my gynae is based at Mulbarton hospital as well, I had to ask one of the nurses Samantha who was the one assisting with my son, who was kind enough to help me and tried to make my stay well what was left of it bearable.

It was so bad I asked my gynae to discharge me a day earlier because I couldn't stand being in the facility and felt i could get better care at home and unfortunately I had to stay an extra day because my son had high jaundice levels and he had to be placed on a bilibed for the night before we can be discharged.

I unfortunately work with clients and no matter the volumes or not having sufficient capacity you do not make a client feel so inferior at any point, the worst client experience,

Lorraine who is the matron came to apologize but even then, I felt as though I was being attended to as bed number and not a patient who has just came back from theater.

At this point, I even doubt that management will do anything about this complaint because it seems as though its a norm to ill treat patients and they simply don't care.
