Terrible service and experience at UNITAS 2nd time
At 8h00 sister Salome indicated that we will bath baby after breakfast. She said I have to bath baby since it's my second child. I said okay I'm not sure I remember but left it at that.
At 8h00 Breakfast arrives. I'm still feeding baby.
At 8h05 Immunization sister arrives to vaccinate baby
At 8h25 Sister Linda arrives to advise on breast feeding.
At 8h45 Sister Salome returns and is annoyed by my breakfast still laying there and asks why I hadn't eaten. I proceeded to explain that I was busy with the 2 sisters. She got annoyed and said she will take baby to check her vitals while I eat and we missed our bathing slot since there are awaiting the arrival of many babies from theater. She said she will advise me as to when we can bath baby.
9h45 sister Annekie enters to change linen followed by sister Salome.
Sister Salome indicates that once they are done we must bath baby. I told her that I was scared and that she must please help and assist me. She said they don't normally help mother's who have had their second baby.
Sister Salome then proceeded to question why I am using 2 cupboard/food trays, and that the person next to me won't have anything to use, (even though the bed next to me was empty). I explained that my food tray was broken and that she is more than welcome to remove the second cupboard/food tray if dhe can fix mine. She was annoyed by this and started to check my food tray.
By this point I was extremely upset by sister Salome's attitude towards me. I proceeded to tell her that it seems like she's looking for faults in everything and doesn't want to be helpful. I also said that her profession calls for compassion and helpfulness and she is showing me none. And that we rather call Dr. Minnaar and ask her to discharge me since I'm getting no assistance and only nastiness while I'm here.
She proceeded to say that I'm misunderstanding the entire situation and rolled the crib away to bath baby. We proceeded to bath the baby together, no further altercations.
At 13h05 I asked the sisters to watch baby while I showered. At 13h40 they proceeded to tell me that baby was screaming down the roof so they gave her 30ml top up formula at 13h15.
At 13h10 the kitchen staff finally show up with lunch. Then they proceed to tell me the hospital has no halaal food today and that they brought me fish and mash. They also indicated that there is no halaal food for dinner either and that I can either have the fish again or a cheese sandwich. I advised that I will confirm after lunch.
At 14h15 they returned, I advised I will have the cheese sandwich.
The food has been a problem since Day 1. I was given a menu to order from, however my lunch and supper on day 1 were both roast veg lasagne (which I did not order), since they apparently had nothing else. It arrived cold and the portion size was enough for my 3 year old daughter.
Day 2 breakfast I recieved, again semi frozen scrambled eggs, 2 mini sausages and 3 baby tomatoes after ordering a cheese and mushroom omlette.
