Private patient not given the proper care even though payment was made in full

<p>For years i have recommended Sunninghill Hospital as i found it to be a well equipped hospital that truly genuinely cared for their patients. On 2 occasions, last year and recently, i have seen how the emergency area has terribly declined with the honour and value that the medical profession should possess which would be to save lives. Care for people no matter where they come from. It all seems to revolve around money though.</p> <p> </p> <p>Last year my mum was ill so i took her to the emergency room. I quickly gave the doctor present a brief history of my mother's conditions and why her doctors will normally admit her. It was a Saturday so her physician was not availbale. The doctor laughed at me as if i was exagerating and did not take me serious. My mum has previously been in and out of hospital for 3 years before she could be diagnosed. Now this doctor wanted to mock me. Eventually my mothers doctor called the emergency rooms and asked them to admit her.</p> <p> </p> <p>This week my brother had all the symptoms of a stroke or heart attack. He barely made it to emergency. They were first worried about the money but we were willing to pay. Money was not the issue. Then R5000 later a doctor tells him oh there is nothing wrong and sends him home. I know enough about strokes and heart attacks to know something is wrong. She gives him no real reason for the the paralysis on the left hand side of his body, or the eye swelling shut, or the severe chest pain and not being able too breathe. His pressure and heart rate were abnormally high. The first thing the blood bank says when they came for bloods was....oh you are private. Damn. My brother was paying. What is the issue? It would have been advisable to send him for a CT scan not send him home. How on earth does gastro cause these symptoms. Did she buy her degree? My brother has not been to a doctor in 21 years so if he went it was serious. Not everyone that comes there is a hyperchondriac. This for me is malpractice and theft.</p> <p> </p> <p>Waterfall is a far better hospital. Yes they dont have the specialist Sunninghill does but at least they do their best at the emergency</p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p>
