Poor admin by linksfield and Dr practice
Good day After being authorised to be treated at linksfield by Auth code, I was confirmed that medical aid would cover my costs in hospital. There was a doctor assigned to me, which again, I was informed that all tests are covered by way of Auth being accepted. After my stay I receive a massive bill stating the Dr wasn't a Dsp and that it was booked in as non emergency
There are two matters here, 1. If the practice according to bankmed is a non Dsp, I find it hard to understand how the hospital can get Auth for me on this basis knowing that there will be claim implications, especually for tests that may be requested . Is this not part of the daily job ?
. How is this possible, because it was confirmed everything has been covered by the medical aid.If my medical aid wasn't going to pay a non Dsp why wasn't I informed at Auth stage and I could have opted not to use your practice .
In my situation , not being even able to breathe properly let alone speak, I assumed the Dr assigned to me has come through because these checkswere all clear? I gave blood in hospital, you took me down for breathing tests etc .. at what point do I as a patient know who is billing me and what is covered and what isn't when I'm booked in at hospital and going through a series of tests?
2. bankmed says my authorisation came through as a non emergency code, and require the code to be an emergency in order to pay the amount and require a letter in this case . This then subsequently resulted in (again a non Dsp) charging me irregular medical rates . A practice I either should never have been assigned to in the first place and/or that was going by a code listed as non emergency. If at any time there were going to be costs upon me, this should have been checked with me medical aid while I'm there and I could have opted to use a Dsp that does confirm to the agreed charges stipulated in the bankmed agreement....and that's still me assuming that my designated hospital would align me to a Dsp practice beforehand...that is why I left Bedford life and came to linksfield
?
Please check in with the Dr if needs be but advise why the non emergency code was used and why a non Dsp would be assigned to me??
Medical aid advised if the situation was declared as as an emergency that may have different Auth implications .At the time of booking in, my oxygen was low and I needed immediate medical attention.
I cannot be paying so much in medical bills , and get such recklessness from the people who are to book me in. I arrived there thinking I cam to the correct place in terms of my medical aids Dsp, but from their it's also your duty to ensure that all auths will be taken care of with diligence and if there is discrepancies I will be notified then I can change or opt out of the providers used in the hospital.
Thanks
