PMA report from Netcare Alberton to Discovery Medical Aid

Case Number: *** Netcare Alberton Hospital.

Date of admission: 16- 10 2024 Date discharged: 24 - 10- 2024

Doctor in charge: Dr Portia Ngwata ( Gastroenterology ) MP Number: *** PR Number: *** Tel number: *** Email: ***

EMERGENCY ADMISSION TO THE HOSPITAL AND APPROVAL:

I'm a member of Discovery Health and was on a 3 months waiting period, only 15 days left to complete the waiting period when I was admitted. Approval was obtained by Doctor Ngwata by email from Discovery Health, I was then given a bed and sent to the emergency ward. I also received an SMS in my phone from Discovery Health which read as follows: ( Your emergency admission is approved for now. We are reviewing your authorization request. We will contact you after finishing the review.) Message dated 16/102024 at 17; 55.

I heard nothing from Discovery Health yet the doctor visited me everyday checking on my condition and progress. I was discharged by the same doctor on the 24 October 2024 and given medication to take home. On the 26 October 2024 I received an SMS from Discovery which read as follows: ( Please note that your authorisation has been declined. No receipt of the PMA report from your doctor Dr Ngwata.)

I tried several times to call the doctor to remind her of the PMA report required by the Medical Aid ( Discovery )with no success to reach her. FInally I sent her a long one page email, waited for 2 days and sent her another email, still with no reply. I then sent the copy of the email to the hospital in the attention of Mr Wesley Nadasen who had persistently phoned me asking when I would be settling the hospital account. His position in his emails is Hospital Debtors Controller and his email is ( ***

DISTURBING FACTORS. I'm receiving numerous calls from doctors that I don't even know, threatening me with legal action if I don't pay them within seven days. I don't know them. I was not myself the time I was admitted in hospital by the ambulance.I referred them back to the hospital but some of them have already sent my records to ITC and blacklisted my name. PathCare Vermaak has blacklisted me for R9648.00 Dr Nay & Piccolo have blacklisted me for R3025.00 The question I'm failing to get answers is, ( who are these doctors, what did they do to me.I only know one doctor ( Dr Ngwata who daily checked my progress) Netcare Alberton is also threatening to hand me for R 66 382.24. I asked Wesley Nadasen for detailed invoices, he is just sending me a statement.

MY COMPLAINT AND CONCERN:

Why is Dr Ngwata failing to return my calls and messages and failing to provide Discovery with a PMA report.

She has approval from Discovery in writing and an authorisation number in her computer, she was able to show me the number when I demanded her to do so..

Why is she not making a follow up on my condition, I currently need her but she doesn't want to talk to me. I now have doubts if I got the right treatment in this hospital or is it a money making ****.

Why are these doctors all handing me over for collection instead of talking to the hospital, I signed nothing with them.

CONCLUSION:

At the age of 68 years I'm a pensioner and my kids are trying their best to give me a dignified send off to the grave by paying for the best medical aid. I doubt if Discovery as rated the top one medical cares for its bottom- end clients or only cares for the elite. My dearly request is for you Hello Peter to assist me in getting this matter resolved amicably. Discovery must pay, they approved my admission to Netcare Alberton Hospital otherwise I should have opted to go to a black poor man's hospital which is Tembisa Hospital. I pay plus R 6 000.00 per month to Discovery.

Good morning Morris. PathCare would be the people who did your blood tests and Dr Nay & Piccolo are the doctors from the emergency department - both bill separately from the hospital and Dr Ngwata. I will ask someone from the hospital to get in touch. Take care, Lynne.
