Pathetic Service, waiting can cost you your life

Shocking service from a so called well established hospital - regarding treatment for my partner

Patient came into the ER on Wednesday, 17th April 2024 with severe abdominal pain on the lower right side, with a possible suspicion of appendicitis

General tests were run and patient was advised by the hospital staff that an additional ultrasound appointment was scheduled thereafter, for Friday, 19th April 2024 - bear in mind, we were never advised at any stage prior to this that the hospital closes their patient files ON A DAILY BASIS and that a further R1600 would be required on the Friday, following the ultrasound scan, to RE OPEN the file for the doctor to advise further

This was only mentioned on the Friday, after waiting an additional hour in ER for feedback. Mind you, patients can pass away in the time it takes to wait at this hospital. Also, the attending doctor in ER advised on Wednesday that it could be a stomach infection - yet upon requesting the results and taking it to our family GP for a second opinion, results indicate more than 3 markers for appendicitis

Umhlanga hospital refused to admit the patient for further tests and medical treatment, upon a serious case which could have led to a burst appendix and complications. Are your doctors unqualified???? It's very easy to misdiagnose patients evidently, as a stomach infection and APPENDICITIS are two very DIFFERENT things!!!!

I would never suggest Umhlanga Hospital as it's purely a money making scheme with zero care for anyone's wellbeing. Be prepared to keep emptying your pockets whilst waiting to pass away slowly before anyone attends to you - with a good chance of a misdiagnosis!!!!!
