Our Dr’s aren’t employed by Us—- Says Netcare Linmed.

Linmed Hospital I have decided to pen down my feelings after my daughter was hospitalised at your hospital, Paediatric ward. In my 36 years of existed I have never received this kind of treatment I received at your hospital not even in a public hospital. Now I think I should also bring it to your attention that your hospital worsened my journey with my sick daughter. Ok my daughter presented with symptoms as explained to your casualty department & I’ll tell you now that I was impressed with how they handled us at casualty, The problem then started when we then referred to a Dr that was not even at the hospital on that particular moment. Now can the hospital tell me out of all the Dr’s in your hospital how is your procedure in terms of allocating Dr’s to patient. Why Was I referred to a Dr who only visit the hospital at night. So lets say the Dr does only come at night, don’t you think it would more appropriate for the hospital to give us a choice in terms of Dr;’s available or at least be formally informed that please understand that while other patients will be seen by Dr’s during the day, your Dr will only see you at night. When we arrived at the Paediatric ward we were made to wait for some time before we could even get help, ask the Sr from Casualty, she also had to leave before she could do a proper handover. Ok I decided to turn a blind eye on some of the issues that we experienced there since my only concern was to get my daughter helped. Now: I made the bed my self and decided on what bedding to use – that was Ok The solution we were given before Xray I doubt it was give as per casualty instructions because some of it was left lying around on the table. I’m not going to focus on how things are disorganised in that quarantine ward I’m also not going to focus on how there is a faulty couch on the ward we were given & I ended up having to shift the couches myself because I really wanted what’s best for my child. We were then called at the Xray department, & we had to navigate our way to the Xray department as no 1 was available to even take us there. Now: The most traumatising experience was having to seat with my daughter there the whole day without seeing a Dr while some patient were seen by their doctors. Ok again let’s say the Dr comes at night, don’t you think the hospital should at least know what’s happening. Now I saw the Dr & I trust her as the specialist but can I be given a chance to see a dr who will attend to us during the day not at night. Yesterday My daughter was put on an antibiotic & she continued to have diarrhoea, was not even put on a probiotic. Now I’m requesting that I be given a chance to see another Dr & she is refusing. Coming to Linmed was supposed to be helping my daughter to me but it looks like she also wants to admit me as I woke up with severe sharp stomach pain. Now she is forcing me to sign RTC form, for what? Don’t I have a choice to choose a Dr for my child. Please tell Dr that I am not undermining her as a specialist, she is good at what she does but I would rather get another Dr, preferably a Dr who will be available during the day. I also got an email that medical aid wont cover her so what am I supposed to do? Regards Viwe Mashego.
