Nursing Care

The current state of the Paeds Ward is unacceptable and far below the standard we expect from this hospital. The environment is chaotic — machines constantly make noise, not because staff are busy attending to emergencies, but while they sit together laughing, joking, and having casual conversations.

We don’t know who our appointed nurses are, medication is often left open and unattended, and yet they are expected to feed our children. Staff members are frequently on their cellphones while children and parents are left without immediate attention.

Today is not even a busy day, which makes this lack of care even more unacceptable. Instead of using the time to provide quality attention to patients, it is spent catching up on personal business. There is even open gossip about parents who rightfully raise concerns about poor service.

Just a few years ago, the service here was excellent. Now, there’s no difference between public and private care — and sadly, it feels as though many of the nurses here dislike their jobs. From morning staff to late staff, the attitude and service remain equally disappointing.

Our children deserve better.
