Not claiming from medical aid

Sometime last year I fainted and my father called an ambulance, by the time the ambulance arrive I was conscious and they too me to a hospital. Netcare didn't claim from my medical aid for taking me to a hospital they just decided on their own that it is not life threatening therefore my father has to pay the bill cash. The ambulance was called because we know we are covered for the service so how can Netcare make a decision on their own that we must pay cash without finding out if the medical aid is willing to pay the claim and now I'm no logger on that medical aid and the person they are harassing for the money is a pensioner how do they expect him to settle the account.<br>
