Nightmare at Unitas
Good day. I just want to raise my voice about the nightmare I've been through in your ward 2A, I am very traumatised and litterly had nightmares for the last 2 nights about this place !! I cannot believe that the price per night is much more than a hotel, but had to stay in hell! My bed was 1B, I will never ever in my life go this hospital out of free will again. According to my room mate ICU is even worst!! The noise was absolutely terrible and unbearable, it sounded like a taxi rank or bus stop in Marabastad. Cannot believe that there are posters on the walls with "Silence promotes healing", what a joke! Staff were laughing, shouting & talking with absolute no care about patients that are already uncomfortable and wasn't allowed the basic human right of sleeping. The drip machine's alarms went off constantly and the staff couldn't be worried to get it sorted ASAP! I would thought that every dripping machine that was bought would be supp**** with it's own charger, but no, one charger was circulated between the 4 beds in the ward, that caused the alarms to constantly go off!!! On Sunday the 14th I was visited by the doctor around 11 am, I specifically noted that the doctor told the male "nurse" that my dressing should be changed. Around 15 pm when I saw the sister on duty for the first time that day that my dressing was supposed to be changed, she acted very surprised. My visitors were very upset that they came all the way to visit me, just to wait more than half an hour for my dressing to be changed before they could see me. Another thing is that I went and bought earphones for R30 and only one "earphone" worked, on top of that the television was not properly set up and the sound was overwhelmed with a buzzing sound, I was told that maintenance would be called the next day, I was there until 1 and no one showed, but I have to pay for the luxury of having a TV. My husband tried phoning the hospital 8 times on Saturday night after my operation and when he was finally put through they told them I was sleeping, another joke, as I never slept the entire Saturday/Sunday night/morning. On Sunday night I went out to the staff and begged them to please keep quite and reminded them of their own poster. I closed the door to our ward myself, however that didn't stop the dripping alarms from going off and when they came in they didn't close the door, I had to get up about 4 times to go and close the door again myself. On Sunday night I was trying to eat, I had to be the onlooker of bed 1C's pee and **** bags, I started vomiting again and couldn't eat a thing. Why is the space so limited? My husband had to sit on my bed and there were not even one chair available for the rest of the 3 visitors, they could barely fit standing around the bed!
I am going to forward this complaint to Discovery as I pay them a lot of money, for this kind of poor service. Also posting on Facebook and Hello Peter, I will not accept a standard reply of "I am sorry to hear about your complaint"!!!
PS. I was admitted on Thursday the 11th and spend 2 nights in ward 1D, room 5. The staff in that ward was the exact opposite of 2A, they would come and introduce themselves, barely heard an alarm going off and the best of all they were QUITE!
