NEVER USE THIS HOSPITAL, BAD SERVICE AND TERRIBLE ACCOUNTING
My husband has colon cancer, he has had a number of operations at St. Augustines. Only because his doctor had rooms at the hospital. After removing a large portion of his colon, he had to have a colonoscopy to investigate raised tumour markers. He had this in May 2017. Our medical aid approved the procedure. In October 2017 we received nasty sms's from a lawyer in Cape Town advising we owed R2800. When I phoned the number I asked for paperwork, what was the R2800 for etc. Eventually I managed to find it was for the colonoscopy. My medical aid advised the procedure was approved but the hospital used the wrong code. I only got this far because I had to dig through old papers. The lawyers, McRoberts in Cape Town were now rudely screaming at me on the phone. I have passed on the reason for non payment, but heard nothing positive. The lady at Netcare passes it on to someone else. AND THE FARCE CONTINUES, today we received another call asking us to pay. My husband is halfway through 12 chemotherapy treatments. He is on the whole, keeping well. But this harrassment is making him sick. Any why, because Netcare got its codes wrong and then just throw us to the lawyers. Why did they not phone, email or even write a letter to us when the bill was not paid? What can we do to get them to admit they made a mistake, because no one will speak to us from the hospital. With regard to the service, the staff do not give a fig about patients. The nurse admitting him to the bed, argued with me that he in for some illness and only stopped talking ******* when I grabbed the doctor's note with operation. I would arrive at 3pm to find his cold soup sitting there from lunch, I would heat it up and try to get him to eat. During that stay in hospital, he lost about 8kg. I repeatedly asked that he be given interflora because he was on intravenous antibiotics. Never was done. His last big operation, we drove from La Lucia to Hillcrest Hospital in order to avoid St. Augustines. Because he was in for about a week, I had to pay for accommodation. Can someone at Netcare take responsibility for their poor accounting system. Why should it be a sick man
we received a new phone call, from Jerome Cupido today, looks like we have been moved to a debit collector
