Net(mis)care Krugersdorp vs a state butchery aka 'hospital'
My mother in law has been (mis)treated at Net(don't)care Krugersdorp Hospital. She was admitted for only two days an returned with bruises on her arm and hands (the large upper arm bruise from taking blood pressure). Service (as far one can call it late that) is appalling bad. On the first day at 11h30 she was not washed (could not walk independently), my wife had to wash her. At that stage no communication with the treating specialist. On the second day my wife went at 11h00, she was washed and were told she will be discharged (meantime we had to call and email the specialist to find out what, who, where and when). The nurses were on both days extremely unfriendly (in fact rude), not interested and just there for the salary at the end of month, to be honest, if you work in the healthcare sector...don't if you are there for just the salary. My wife had to wait half an hour for a nurse to rock up to fill in the discharge paperwork, the other nurse could not care less. When she requested a wheel chair they could not find one but eventually rocked up with a wheel chair which is large enough to accommodate Hercules and Arnold Schwartzenegger together. The nurse had an even more appalling excuse...'could not find a wheelchair, don't know where they are, they are missing, probably dumped somewhere in the hospital' (or could it been ****** am asking myself?). Then the subscribed mediation at the pharmecy, a complete shamble. The pharmecist could not figure out that the first medicine is for 7 days (hospital prescription) and the rest until mid January. In fact my wife made a call herself to the specialists reception and explained the pharmacist how to go about. She requested a doctors note to support the home nursing request for the medical insurance. That request was received ice cold and a two liner note from the specialist was given (wait and see if the medical will be happy with that), simply said the treating doctor was heartless and showed little to no interest (dr. please go on a holiday, you need it to get a tiny little spark back). On a good note, the best service we had was the parking attendant in the street upon admitting in the hospital!! The next appointment with the specialist is mid January, no thank you Netcare, we will go somewhere else. In fact the 'service' delivered should have a discounted rate as pay vs service is not on par. We could have rather brought my mother in law to a state butchery (aka hospital) as one comes out of there mistreated and bruised. It is quite clear that Netcare hospitals are coming very close to the state hospitals when it comes to general service and management is poorly. Manaqement is where the problem starts, start sorting them out first and go down from the top to the bottom. And please, don't come with the excuse of 'we were so busy due to Covid', a hospital is supposed to give proper care in accordance to its rates which one should expect from a private hosptial.
