NETCATE CLINTON EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT
On Sunday morning the 13th of June I took my 16 month old baby to Netcare Clinton Hospital. I arrived and was advised by nurses that I would need to wait a bit as theu are busy with another patient. I was then asked if I don't want to fo home and return 2 hours later. I told them that If I felt I could wait I would not have gotten in the car with my baby at 3h30 in the morning. I was asked to have a seat. After a while a nurse came to me and asked a few questions. She sent me to reception to open a file. Once the file was opened I went back to the ED to wait. This was at around 04h00. I sat there 35 weeks pregnant with my 16 month old baby for 4 and a half hours before a doctor finally made an appearance. We were only then taken to the triage room for examination. The nurse asken further questions (which honestly she could have done before the doctor arrived). They asked for allergies and I mentioned penicillin. The doctor briefly examined my baby, not checking temp, ears or throat and gave us a prescription. I then asked if any of these antibiotics are penicillin and she said yes. I mentioned again that he is allergic and asked her to change the script. She changed it and disappeared. I asked a nurse to please call her back as I need a sick note for my employer as I have to keep baby home for a few days. I waited for another 15 mins before she came back. Besides the lack of service and interest in patient care the emergency rooms were so untidy. There were things lying around everywhere. Machine and chairs blocking the hallway. Papers everywhere in the triage room. Empty needle wrappers were lying on the floor. I am absolutely disgusted with the service or the lack thereof. This is not the first time I have been unhappy with Netcare. Maybe Life hospitals take patient care seriously because Netcare does NOT care as stated on tshirts and signs.
