Netcare Pretoria East Hospital PostNatal Ward

The services from nurses of Ward 6 (post natal ward) at Pretoria East Hospital has deteriorated significantly to worst and management of the hospital is refusing to listen. I wrote to them describing the horrific incidents of my 3 days stay at the hospital after having my daughter and their response was “…post natal ward is not ICU. We did what we needed to do at a post natal ward.” I did not wash for the time of my stay at the hospital because they didn’t want to give me a shower room but gave me a bath tub after my c-section. I did not eat because I could not take myself to the toilet. The nurses wanted me to be mobile and independent even when I told them the pain is unbearable. They wanted me to walk myself to go do a CAT scan after my c-section. I could hardly move in the bed at that time. Surprisingly, people staying in the Pretoria East area I shared my story with, know about the bad service in that ward either from their own personal experience or that of someone close to them. Do not go to that ward. The bad service, negligence, mistreatment, rudeness and obtuseness of the staff is terrifying even after you leave that place. I am still working towards recovery from the traumatic experience I had. I wrote to the management of the hospital asking for an apology, a refund of my payment and a promise that they’ll see to the improvement of the services in that ward. Instead they sent me a form to complete so that I can get my medical records that show that they “did all they needed to do” and for me to “pursue legal action”. So they are arrogant too… Do not go to Pretoria East Hospital to have your baby there!
