Netcare Parklane Nearly Cost Me My Life – Lifelong Trauma Caused by Negligence

I will never forget the nightmare I went through at Netcare Parklane in September 2025 when I was admitted to the maternity ward to give birth to my baby boy. What was supposed to be the happiest moment of my life turned into a horrific experience that has left me with lifelong trauma.

The midwife assigned to me, “Mbali,” displayed shocking negligence and disregard for my safety. She induced my labour but never bothered to check on me for hours. When I called for help in unbearable pain, another nurse arrived and simply called me a “first time mums” rolling her eyes as if my suffering and cries for help meant nothing. When I specifically requested an epidural, I was flat-out denied one.

Mbali never acted in my best interests. She completely ignored my well-being after the induction and only appeared after *five hours*of neglect. How is this acceptable care? It was only after things had gone horribly wrong that she somehow managed to gather a team within ten minutes to rush me for an emergency C-section. It felt orchestrated, like I was being set up for failure from the start.

I could have lost my life because of this midwife’s negligence. My birth experience, which should have been beautiful, has been ruined. I now live with the emotional scars and trauma of that day. Netcare Parklane failed me in the worst possible way, and I will never get over how recklessly my life and my baby’s life were handled.
