Netcare Parklands. Heartless
My wife has come in for an emergency c section on the 1st of JUNE 2021.
Unfortunately my baby girl was born at pre mature at 35 weeks and had to spend 10 days in NICU. Being first time parents, we thought we would get the empathy and communication with being covid, we only got to see her once a day and me being a father, only on a Sunday.
We used to go in to visit her and nobody used to speak to us or give us any information on how our baby is doing. I had to ask questions and updates and look for answers. In return, I was told that is how it should be done that I should ask the questions.
My child had blood tests for infections and 2 yellow jaundice tests without me knowing, only when I had asked is when I knew about it.
From the beginning I never wanted to dummy being used, the nurses acknowledged this but yet I go 2 days later and see she is still being put on the dummy. When I had queried this, I was told that no matter the reason, they should've told me why they are using the dummy which they did not do.
It's been 2 weeks now at home with our baby and she constantly looks for the dummy to a point where she does not feed properly because she just sucks on the dummy of the bottle.
I do understand that they are busy and many babies to deal with but should every child not be given the same care and empathy especially being in NICU?
Dr Roos our pedestrian, in the 10 days we spent their did not call us once to update or advise on progress. It came to a point where my wife and I were so emotional and hurt that I went to his office to demand he calls me. Absolutely shocking.
Was even an incident that I noticed they had written down my baby girls weight incorrectly and when I had asked. I got ignored twice before getting an answer.
I really do hope future parent do not have to go through this because it really is a horrible experience to go through especially as first time parents.
Netcare Parklands! I really hope this is dealt with as we now living with difficulties with our baby that you chose to ignore when she was in your care! I honestly hope you never have to go through this in the future with your own or a loved one.
I certainly will not be coming back.
