Netcare Milpark kitchen fails

I was admitted at Netcare Milpark Hospital after suffering a stroke. The Doctors and the nurses were fantastic, but I had the worst stay I've ever had at a hospital. The concept of making patients feel comfortable seems foreign to this institution. The food was **********. The hostesses were very rude. The ward I stayed in had an air con that doesn't work.

My biggest complaint is directed at the unprofessional practices and behaviour by the kitchen staff. Everyday they come and take your order. And I am not exaggerating when I say out of my 3 week stay I only ate about 10 meals there. They ALWAYS bring the wrong order and when you raise the hostess is angry that you would even dare to expect excellence or at the very least, competence.

The water jugs were changed only when you ask for it and dietary restrictions mean nothing (while in hospital I was started on a medication that requires a restriction on citrus but no matter how much I told them, I always got lemons in my water). No matter how many times I asked to not get green veggies I would receive chicken drenched in cabbage almost every night.

Once I raised the issue with the kitchen manager, instead of addressing the issues inside the kitchen she fired the hostess on duty that day, who I had had no issues with, with immediate effect. It seems they keep untrained staff and then fire them when things outside of their control go wrong.

I am very disappointed by the experience I had at milpark. It just happens that all the medical stuff is world class (I recovered from my near death experience within a week due to the amazing doctors and the diligent, and patient nurse). But I really wished there was an option to stay elsewhere and get treated by milpark doctors.
